About the Centenary of WW1

The dedicated 1914-18 centenary website set up by the Imperial War Museum brings together many national and local commemorative initiatives.

See http://www.1914.org/

and http://m.iwm.org.uk/centenary

(The Imperial War Museum’s own major centenary initiative 'Lives of the First World War' launches in February and seeks to include more detailed content on individuals.)

Eyewitness Tours - a small, local company specialising in tours of the WW1 battlefields, war graves and memorial sites.

Western Front Association - The Western Front Association (WFA) was formed with the aim of furthering interest in The Great War of 1914-1918. We also aim to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of all those on all sides who served their countries in France and Flanders and their own countries during The Great War.

The site contains much interesting material.

Virtual Cemetery

at www.cwgc-virtual-cemetery.org is an online, interactive tool (from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission) for the classroom (being launched on March 20th), and is packed with thought-provoking activities and lesson plans for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils studying Citizenship, History and Religious Studies. Designed for use on an interactive whiteboard, the resource is also accessible through PCs and laptops.

We will continue to add other links as this project moves forward
